While opening the 2nd National ICT job fair 2023, I told the audience that ICT is a huge step for humanity, and like all the other scientific innovations, it must be used in the right context to build an economy that is independent, integrated, and self-sustaining.
We must put its usefulness in context of the ten basic human needs: food, shelter, clothing, health, security, mobility, infrastructure (roads, railway, etc), knowledge (schools, etc), communication and entertainment.
Uganda’s digital efforts should therefore support the independence (not dependance) of acquiring these 10 basic human needs because it is these needs that transform economies. I also support the idea of digitizing Government processes because it promotes traceability of information.
