President Yoweri Museveni has today flagged off the first batch of Made in Uganda Tee-Shirts that are destined for Denmark.The 6-tonne merchandise were made by Fine Spinners (Uganda) Limited, a local garments industry that has joined a niche of garment producers that export to the international market. The Bugolobi-based garments industry in Kampala has used locally grown cotton to make the Tee-shirts.Addressing staff and workers of the garments industry Mr. Museveni called for cooperation and trust between the workers and their employers in order to ensure the smooth running of the industry. He commended the administrators of the industry for a job well done.Earlier, the President was conducted through the process of manufacturing Tee-Shirts, right from raw cotton to finished product, by Chief Executive Officer of the Company, Mr. V. Joshi.After the flagging off ceremony, the Managing Director for cotton growing organization in Uganda, Mrs. Jolly Sabune observed that the exportation of Ugandan products to the international market will go a long way in adding value to Uganda’s cotton.She encouraged Ugandan famers to continue growing more cotton in order to help attract more investment opportunities in the country resulting in the creation of more employment opportunities to the people of Uganda.
