President Yoweri Museveni has commended a partnership between the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and a Chinese company to manufacture commercial explosives in Uganda.

The President, who last week commissioned the Kyoga Dynamics Ltd in Nakasongola District, said the project will make it easier for Uganda to meet its infrastructure and development needs.

The explosives are used in mining, road construction and building dams, among others.

The National Enterprise Corporation--the business and development arm of the Ministry of Defence, manages the project.

Present at the function were Mr. Li Jianmin, the Vice-Chairman of NORINCO Ltd, one of the parent companies of Kyoga Dynamics Ltd, the Chief of the Defence Forces, Gen. Katumba Wamala and Maj. Gen. James Mugira, the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) Managing Director. ENDS
